Jackson started in the music business at the age of 11, as a member of the Jackson 5, with his brothers. With hits such “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” “I’ll Be There,” and “Dancing Machine,” we will never forget that adorable front-man who had the heavenly voice of an angel and the killer moves of a James Brown. Through these albums, he dominated music in the ‘80’s and early ‘90’s with songs such as “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” “Rock With You,” “Beat It,” “Billie Jean,” “Scream,” and “Man in the Mirror.”
Michael was one of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. His other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards and 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era. He is also credited for being the co-author and performer of “We Are The World,” which at that point was the top selling single in history.
His total earnings have been estimated at $500 million dollars. His music videos on MTV, such as "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" were some of the most influential early music videos, and his sound influenced numerous hip hop and R&B artists.
Jackson’s artistry came through in his style as well. His signature silver glove, black pants and white socks with black loafers, red leather zipper jacket and military styles of the later years were unmistakably Michael. If you saw any one of them, you knew who was wearing them.
And the dancing! The Moonwalk is unquestionably his most famous dance move. But he also made the Pop and Lock all his own. His kick, crotch grab, and toe-hop scream "Michael." Millions of young children spent countless hours in front of their TV screens memorizing every step in the landmark 14-minute “Thriller” video and many still remember the entire routine. It was Mike’s uncanny talent in singing and dancing, and his way of expressing himself and his love for his audiences that made him the icon that he was.
