Help! I Need a Job! Now What????

Are you a recent graduate looking for employment?  Have you grown all you can in your current position and now looking for new challenges?  The internet has a wealth of resources to help begin your job search but it can be overwhelming.  Where to begin?? 

Step 1: Create/update your resume
If you don’t have a resume then it’s time for you to create one!  The internet has many websites that offer templates for resumes.  To be on the safe side, a chronological resume is the best way to go.  Always keep your contact information and recent work history updated to ensure that employers can contact you promptly.


Step 2: Have an Idea of What You NeedNow that you have your resume ready, what type of job are you looking for that matches your skill set?  It is imperative that you have some sense of what you want in an employer and what you can do as an asset to their company.  A bit of research goes a LONG way to make the best use of your time and efforts. 


Step 3: Post your Resume Online
The web has revolutionized how we life our lives and thus how we search for employment.  There are many online job boards that provide free opportunities for candidates to post their resumes. WBLS and WorkplaceDiversity.com are great places to post your resume…for free! 


Step 4: Search Job Online

Step 5: Career Fairs
In major cities across the country there are many recruiting opportunities at local career fairs.  Search online for career fairs near you.  Preparation is the key!  Look sharp, do your homework, and come with an optimistic mind.  Employers are looking for you!  It’s your time to shine!
