Mo’Nique is making sure that she gets everything that she deserves.
The actress has recently filed a lawsuit against CBS and Paramount for unpaid royalties for her hit show, The Parkers. According to reports, the lawsuit cites a breach of contract and that the defendants “artificially depressed the show’s profitability to retain millions that would otherwise be contractually due to Mo’Nique’s production company.”
“While the Series has proven to be a major financial success for its producers and distributors, the series’ talent have not been permitted to share in the fruits of that success,” the lawsuit states.
The documents also allege that the creators and writers of the show were underpaid, a discovery that was made when she filed a similar lawsuit. One of her attorneys said, “Mo’Nique is not shy about taking on these David vs. Goliath battles in Hollywood to challenge these questionable practices that are endemic to the industry.”
The comedian added, “I just want the contractual compensation that I’ve earned.” This new lawsuit comes almost a year later after Mo’Nique and Netflix settled their gender and racial bias lawsuit.
The details of the settlement are still unknown, however, things seemed to end on good terms. She currently has a new special on the streaming platform called My Name is Mo’Nique which was released last week.
