TV reality star Brittish Williams is fighting her 4-year prison sentence.
According to reports, Williams’ legal team have filed an appeal to have the sentence overturned after being sentenced in October. Williams recently pled guilty to 15 felony charges including wire fraud, bank fraud, misuse of a Social Security number and getting thousands of dollars out of the government.
Along with her sentencing, she was ordered to pay $564,069 in restitution and to receive five years of supervision once she is released. Although she has recognized her wrongdoing, she and her lawyer believe that her sentencing was harsh and unfair because of her celebrity status.
“Brittish Williams was punished today, not for fraud, but for her celebrity. The Court chose to treat her more harshly due to her status as a public figure rather than treating similarity situated defendants equally,” her lawyer Beau Brindley said.
He continued, “Ms. Williams’ success is not a crime subject to enhanced penalty. And we will challenge this sentence through every legal means available.” Brittish has not made any statements regarding these appeals.
