On Friday, Dec 1, singer and songwriter Marsha Ambrosius dropped her new single, “The Greatest,” which she produced alongside Dr. Dre.
The single received additional contributions from Dem Jointz, Focus…, Trevor Lawrence Jr., and Erik “Blu2th” Griggs. The track sees the British songstress pouring her heart out to a special someone.
“Are you scared of this love I have to give? Are you afraid there’s only one life to live? If we do this again, don’t pretend, you said the day I met you that you’d never let me go, enchanted by your passion, I’m enamored, got me wanting you, and the things you do to me, you’re by far the greatest of them all…”
In addition to thr single, there have been rumors that Ambrosius and Dr.Dre had a project in the works.
At this year’s Soul Train Awards, the soul singer put the rumors to rest by confirming that a Dr.Dre produced album would be arriving soon.
“Check out the credits, Dr. Dre,” she said during the Soul Cypher. “That Casablanco on the way, a brand new classic about to hit.”
Earlier this year, at a listening party for the album, Dre revealed that it started with plans to create music for him and morphed into her project.
“The way it started out was she actually flew down to work on some songs for me,” he said. “I said let’s work on three or four songs for you, and that turned into an entire album over a two-week period.”
On Thursday (November 30), the superstar took to Instagram to share a teaser for “The Greatest,” showing her gushing over her new material while in the studio with Dr. Dre and co.
“I’m telling you now: I’m backing this shit up 100 percent that I’m excited,” she declares confidently, as Dre says: “Aww shit!”
A release date for Casablanco has yet to be announced.
