Beyoncé’s Renaissance film has broken many records and has now added a new feat to its repertoire. The film is now among the top five highest grossing concert films ever made.
The movie has reportedly grossed over $30 million at the U.S. box office since its December 1 release. Those numbers make it the fifth highest-grossing concert film of all time, after releasing less than a month ago. Names like Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber are also on the top five list.
Taylor Swift’s film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, also released this year and is currently atop the list of highest-grossing films ever. It has grossed almost a quarter of a billion dollars worldwide. Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never film follows Swift’s with $73 million.
Renaissance initially debuted at No. 1 at the box office with over $22 million, which broke a record itself. That was the first time a film has opened with over $20 million on the post-Thanksgiving weekend in 20 years. However, in its second week, the film hit a 77% dip, only bringing in $5 million.
This all comes as it was recently reported that Beyoncé is reaching billionaire status following the success of her Renaissance Tour. In a Forbes report, the Break My Soul artist has seen a tremendous growth in her net worth in 2023 as it was previously estimated at $540 million. According to the outlet, she took home $100 million from the Renaissance Tour.
The show, which ran from May to October of this year with 56-shows total, grossed nearly $600 million worldwide. The tour became the the highest-grossing tour by both a female act and Black act in history.
