In an unexpected move that stirred social media, Republican Vice-Presidential candidate J.D. Vance approached Vice President Kamala Harris‘ aircraft, Air Force Two, at Wisconsin’s Chippewa Valley Regional Airport on Wednesday. The encounter, which many have labeled a “bizarre shaking of the table,” occurred shortly after Harris and her newly announced running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, disembarked from the plane.

Vance’s Bold Move on the Tarmac

As Harris and Walz posed for photos with local Girl Scouts and swiftly exited the tarmac, Vance made his way towards Air Force Two. His intentions, however, were clear. “I just wanted to check out my future plane,” Vance remarked to campaign reporters. He continued, “I figured I’d come by and, one, just get a good look at the plane because hopefully it’s going to be my plane in a few months.”

Despite his bold attempt, Vance did not get to meet Harris. He expressed his frustration, stating, “I wanted to go say hello to the vice president and ask her why does she refuse to answer questions.” He also criticized Harris for her lack of engagement with the press, adding, “This is a person who has to answer questions from the media, and it’s disgraceful that she runs from you guys.”

Political Jabs and Social Media Buzz

Vance’s comments quickly sparked a flurry of reactions on social media. Harris’ campaign responded with a tweet that garnered 1.5 million views within 40 minutes, featuring a video of the Trump jet with a popular audio from “Dance Moms.” The online exchange continued with a sharp response from Vance’s spokesperson, who tweeted, “Make sure AF2 is deep cleaned because Lord only knows what @KamalaHarris and her team have done on there.”

While Vance continues to criticize Harris’ policies and approach, a new poll surfaced showing that 80% of registered Black voters believe Harris’ policies will positively impact their community.
