Hip-hop artist Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Whitaker has officially joined the prestigious ranks of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The 53-year-old rapper was inducted as an honorary member on August 10, 2024, sharing her excitement with fans on Instagram by sporting the sorority’s signature blue and white colors.
Whitaker was joined in her induction by two other remarkable women: Telita Crosland, a renowned leader in military medicine, and Treiva Williams, a dynamic entrepreneur. Together, these three women expanded the 2024 honorary class of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Yo-Yo Joins Group of “Trailblazing Women”
The Zeta Phi Beta honorary class also includes 15 other prominent women. This distinguished group was chosen for their dedication to civic engagement and for embodying the sorority’s principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. Among the inductees are actress Tatyana Ali, businesswoman Patrice Banks, and Brigadier General Felicia Brokaw.
International First Vice President for Membership, Gina Merritt-Epps, Esq., expressed her excitement about the new inductees. “Zeta continues to showcase our commitment to excellence and leadership with the induction of unique and trailblazing women,” Merritt-Epps said. She added that these women would help Zeta Phi Beta advance its philanthropic initiatives and social impact efforts worldwide.
