A reunion of beloved Scandal stars Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn is set to take place at the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago. This time, Washington and Goldwyn won’t just be acting—they’ll be stepping into the spotlight as hosts of the four-day event.

Washington, who portrayed Olivia Pope, and Goldwyn, who played President Fitzgerald Grant in the ABC drama, will join forces again. According to organizers, each star will host one night of the convention, which runs from August 19 to August 22. Washington will close out the event on Thursday, the same night Vice President Kamala Harris is set to accept the Democratic nomination.

A Star-Studded Lineup at the DNC

The DNC has enlisted more than just Scandal stars. Mindy Kaling and Ana Navarro are also set to host, adding more star power to the convention. Goldwyn will kick things off on Monday, Navarro will take the stage on Tuesday, and Kaling will bring her humor on Wednesday. Washington, known for her strong political activism, will close out the event.

CNN reports, “Each star will host one night of the four-day convention, in a role similar to an award show host, kicking off the broadcast with opening remarks and then reappearing onstage throughout the evening to help guide the audience through programming.”

Hollywood Meets Politics

Washington has been actively involved in politics, from founding her nonprofit Influence Change to supporting Democratic candidates. She also hosted the third night of the 2020 DNC. Reflecting on her work, she said, “I’m passionate about using my platform to encourage civic engagement and inspire change.”

Goldwyn, who played a fictional president, has also used his real-life spotlight to support Democratic causes. He attended a reproductive rights event earlier this summer with President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, showing his continued commitment to political activism.
