R&B superstar Tyrese is honoring his late mom with his latest drop.
Tyrese has released a touching tribute to his late mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, with the new single “Wildflower”.
Produced by Brandon “BAM” Hodge and David Foster, “Wildflower” is a reimagined version of the song originally made popular by New Birth in 1973. The song features guitar riffs by Lenny Kravitz and vocals from Le’Andria Johnson.
In the song, Tyrese sings “She faced the hardest times you could imagine/ and many times her eyes fought back tears.”
“Wildflower” is expected to appear on Tyrese’s upcoming album, “Beautiful Pain” his seventh album overall.
Priscilla passed away in 2022 after a battle with COVID-19 and pneumonia. At the time, he shared a video of him holding onto and rubbing his mother’s hand as he tearfully said his goodbyes.
“Rest in peace mom,” Tyrese can be heard saying through his tears. “You fought, mom. You fought. Oh my god, I’m so sorry this happened, mom. Jesus.”
Tyrese had previously shared his mother’s health battle and had asked supporters for prayers.
May the lord Jesus Christ honor your walk with him and embrace you into the heavens,” he wrote, along with a video of himself holding his mom’s hand in her hospital bed.
“From here on I ask that you HOLD MY HAND MOTHER and never let my hand go………. Like you held my hand as a child and a teen never let my hand go mother,” Tyrese added.
Tyrese is the youngest of four siblings
