Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky’s standout rookie, has provided clarity on her season-ending wrist injury. The injury, which occurred during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks, involves a small crack in her wrist bone. Reese addressed the issue on social media, confirming that she will undergo surgery to repair the damage.
“I fell on my hand when I got the and-one,” Reese explained in a TikTok video on Sunday. “It’s a small crack in my bone. Basically, the doctors told me I could either not get surgery or have surgery. The risk of not having surgery—I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old.”
Reese’s Surgery for Long-Term Health
The All-Star forward emphasized the importance of taking the surgery option for her long-term career. “The bone could literally crack and completely shatter,” Reese said, stressing that the injury is a challenging one to heal due to limited blood flow to the area. She revealed that a small screw will be inserted into her wrist, allowing her to avoid further complications.
Reese will be in a hard cast for four weeks and a soft cast for two weeks following the surgery. Despite the setback, the No. 7 overall pick remains optimistic. “I’m looking forward to this minor setback for a major comeback,” Reese said. “Year 2 is about to be scary hours.”
Rumor Control
Reese also shut down speculation about her injury and addressed false rumors circulating online. “Did I fake an injury? Let’s be real. I literally played with my ankle like a literal golf ball against Iowa,” she said, referring to her college days at LSU. Additionally, Reese dismissed baseless rumors that she was pregnant. “I don’t have a man to have kids, I don’t have a ring to have kids, I am 22 with no kids.”
Despite her injury, Reese is committed to staying in shape and supporting her team. “I’ll be lifting, running, conditioning, and shooting with my off hand,” she said.
