Former NFL star Reggie Bush and his family are safe after a terrifying attempted home invasion on September 10, 2024. Bush’s Encino, California mansion was targeted by three men, who reportedly tried to break in late at night.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that a resident heard a window shattering and broken glass was found outside the home. According to LAPD, three male suspects dressed in black were seen fleeing the scene shortly after the incident.
Bush quickly responded to the situation. In a statement sent to the Los Angeles Times, he reassured the public that “everyone is safe.”
Celebrity Burglaries On The Rise
This attempted burglary is part of a troubling trend in Los Angeles. Several high-profile figures, including Chet Hanks and Marlon Wayans, have been recent victims of home invasions. While Bush’s quick actions saved his family from further harm, the rise in celebrity burglaries has prompted many stars to increase security measures.
In Bush’s case, the burglars were able to bypass his home’s advanced security system, which reportedly includes surveillance cameras and an alarm system. The suspects were startled and fled when Bush yelled for help upon hearing the broken glass. The LAPD is still investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made yet.
Reggie Bush’s Year Of Highs And Lows
This event comes just months after a significant victory for Bush. In April 2024, the Heisman Trust announced that Bush’s 2005 Heisman Trophy would be reinstated after years of controversy. The decision followed changes in NCAA policy, allowing college athletes to profit from their “Name, Image, and Likeness” (NIL).
Following the announcement, Bush expressed his gratitude, posting a photo of the trophy and stating, “No one can take from you what God has for you.”
