Mariah Carey is known for her love of glamour, and she didn’t disappoint on her recent trip to the Great Wall of China. On September 14, the pop icon was spotted navigating the ancient structure while wearing 6-inch platform heels, staying true to her signature style.

Accompanied by her 13-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, Carey shared a glimpse of her adventure on social media. She posted a picture of herself on X (formerly Twitter), dressed in a sleek black dress, oversized sunglasses, and immaculate makeup. In her post, she jokingly wrote, “Someone should’ve warned me about heels (not that I would’ve listened)!”

Carey’s footwear choice sparked a lot of attention. The towering heels, designed by Amina Muaddi, featured backless satin uppers, thick platform soles, and 6-inch pyramid heels. As Carey climbed the 21,000 km-long wall, she was assisted by two staff members. Videos from other tourists showed her being carefully guided up the steep steps, but she managed to pose for pictures at the summit.

Fans React to Carey’s Bold Choice

Fans were quick to react to Carey’s bold decision to wear heels for the hike. One fan on social media commented, “Only Mariah Carey would walk the Great Wall of China in heels (and actually be able to do it)!” Another called her “iconic,” while one joked, “First woman to walk the Great Wall in heels. Another day, another record for the Queen!”

While many admired her glamorous appearance, some were concerned about her feet, with one fan asking, “Are your feet ok after that?”

Despite the attention surrounding her footwear, Carey seemed to enjoy her time at the iconic landmark. Posting another photo to Instagram with the caption, “It really is great,” she proved once again that her flair for fashion and drama is unmatched, even while sightseeing with her children.
