Congratulations to A’ja Wilson!
The Las Vegas Aces star was named the 2024 Kia WNBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) on Sunday, Sept. 22. This is Wilson’s third time winning the award. She previously won in 2020 and 2022 and became the fourth player in WNBA history to win three MVP titles, just like Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, and Lauren Jackson, as BET reports.
Wilson reportedly received all 67 first-place votes, which equates to 670 points, from a national panel of broadcasters, and sportswriters. She was the first player to win by a unanimous decision since Cynthia Cooper won in 1997 in the league’s inaugural season. While accepting her award, the 28-year-old delivered a powerful speech where she reflected on her hard work and success, as well as having the privilege of being a part of 144 WNBA.
“On my best days and on my worst, I pray that I am worthy of all the blessings that have come my way,” she said. “The fact that anything I do gives another person and another Black girl a small bit of hope, that’s what keeps me going. Keeps me trying to be the best that I can be, always.”

This award comes a week after A’ja Wilson made history by becoming the first player to score 1,000 points in one season, which she achieved in a home game against the Connecticut Sun.
