WNBA star Brittney Griner and her wife, Cherelle, have shared the first heartwarming photos of their newborn son, Bash. The couple, who welcomed Bash on July 8, recently spoke about their new life as parents and showcased their growing family in a series of photos shared on social media and during an interview with CBS Mornings.
In one of the adorable photos, Griner and Cherelle stand proudly by Bash’s crib. Their son, dressed in skeleton pajamas and a black cap, beams in their arms. Cherelle shared the joy of the moment, saying, “Family shoots have become a team effort. It’s a series of smiles, tears, feedings, and naps. We love every second and can’t wait to take our first Christmas pictures as a family.”
Britney Griner and Cherelle’s Journey to Parenthood
The couple announced they were expecting in April, eagerly counting down the days until they could meet their son. Cherelle carried Bash, and Brittney shared a heartfelt Mother’s Day tribute earlier this year, writing, “Happy 1st of many Mother’s Days, baby. I love you!”
Since Bash’s arrival, the couple has embraced their new roles as parents. Griner described the experience as life-changing, saying, “They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That’s literally what happened.”
Griner admitted the challenge of balancing parenthood with her professional basketball career. Speaking about being away during the WNBA season, she shared, “It is hard leaving, but at the same time, he’s gonna grow up in a sports family, so he’s gonna understand.”
Bash’s arrival marks a joyous chapter for the Griners, following Brittney’s harrowing 10-month detention in Russia in 2022. Since her return, the Phoenix Mercury star has been outspoken about resilience and family. Now, with the addition of Bash, the couple looks forward to creating cherished memories together.
“This is just the beginning of a beautiful journey,” Brittney said. “My world has truly changed.”
