This holiday season, Flavor Flav is urging fans to remember and support loved ones who are on sobriety journeys. The 65-year-old rapper shared an important message on social media, encouraging everyone to consider non-alcoholic options for gatherings.

“Note for the upcoming holiday season, some of us are on a sobriety journey, and mocktails or non-alcoholic beer options make a big difference,” Flav wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on November 26.

A Heartfelt Message From Flavor Flav

Fans were quick to praise the Public Enemy star for his thoughtfulness. One follower responded, “Since my bestie has been sober, I always have stuff to make mocktails for him! My family does too!” Another fan added, “Yes, sir! Always make sure to support people on their journey to greatness, no matter what it is.”

Flavor Flav, born William Jonathan Drayton Jr., knows firsthand the challenges of overcoming addiction. He recently celebrated four years of sobriety in October and shared his pride in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I’m very, very proud of me,” he said.

His sobriety journey began in 2020, after years of battling substance abuse. In a candid conversation earlier this year, he admitted to spending as much as $2,600 a day on drugs at the height of his addiction. “For six years straight, you do the math,” Flav shared during an interview. Despite managing to maintain a public image during those years, the rapper confessed it was a difficult time.

“I guess God wanted me to live,” he said. “He knows I’m a mouthpiece to the world, so I feel he let me live to teach people about my mistakes.”

Advocating for Awareness

Flav’s message comes during a season when alcohol is often a central part of celebrations. By encouraging non-alcoholic alternatives, he hopes to foster inclusivity and support for those committed to sobriety.

His advocacy joins a growing movement among celebrities like Travis Barker, Demi Lovato, and Elton John, who have also spoken publicly about their own sobriety journeys. As Flav continues to inspire, his words serve as a timely reminder to make the holiday season a supportive space for everyone.
