Legendary singer Alfa Anderson has passed away at 78 years old.
Anderson was the lead vocalist for the iconic disco group Chic. According to reports, Anderson began as a background singer in the band when it was founded in 1977 by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. A year later, she became the lead vocalist after Norma Jean Wright left the group.
During her time with Chic, she sang the group’s biggest hits including, “Le Freak,” “Good Times” and “My Forbidden Lover.” Rodgers confirmed the passing of Anderson on social media and paid tribute to his late friend.
He posted a video and some photos of them together as well as the rest of the band, with a caption that read, “Thank you for everything.”
