Prayers Up for Vanessa Williams and her family. She has revealed that her mother, Helen Williams has passed away.
The actress shared the heartbreaking news on her social media. “On December 28th, the world lost a powerhouse, dynamo, and force of nature packed into a 5ft frame,” she wrote. “Our mom, Helen Williams, aka Gaga to many, took her final bow in London 20 days after celebrating her 85th birthday surrounded by family and friends.”
She continued, “It’s impossible to describe all she meant to everyone because each person saw a different facet of her—loyal friend to many, icy stares to a chosen few. We will miss it all. We want to offer some reflections on her remarkable life.”
According to the message posted on Williams’ Instagram page, Helen Williams passed away from complications of acute liver failure at The London Clinic. She was in London for the opening night of “The Devil Wears Prada” in the West End, and she was celebrating her 85th birthday with a party. However, while in London her health took a major decline which ultimately ended her life.
For over 40 years, Helen Williams was a vocal music educator in Ossining and Manhattanville School Districts and a Professor at Manhattanville College. She was also the mother to singer/actress Vanessa Williams and actor Chris Williams.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Williams family during this time.
