It’s been four months since Power creator Courtney A. Kemp inked her multiyear development and production deal with Lionsgate, and she’s already gearing up to launch her first series called Dirty Thirty.
Kemp took a break from the set of Power’s season 6 set to officially announce the news about her co-produced Lionsgate and HBO series last night (Feb. 4) after Deadline published the initial story.
Set in New York City, the one-hour dramatic cop series chronicles the true story of “real-life rogue cops that operated out of the NYD’s 30th Precinct in the early 1990s.”
Like the real Dirty Thirty, the characters in Kemp’s new show dabble with drug distribution, extortion, and an endless list of corrupt activities.
While the plot highlights the Dirty Thirty, it starts as “a story of a cop family and ends as the story of a crime wave infecting the highest levels of municipal government, corrupting the justice system and defining a city.”
There’s no release date, but stay tuned.
