Eddie Murphy and director Craig Brewer, are one step closer to bringing ‘Coming To America 2’ to the fans. The movie will be a sequel to the 1988 classic comedy.
Murphy and Brewer recently worked on, Dolemite Is My Name, together and are eager to work again.
The sequel is intended to have the same case from the first one. Including, Arsenio Hall, who played the prince’s assistant, Semmi; Shari Headley, who played the prince’s love interest; John Amos, who played her father; and James Earl Jones, who played the king.
Reportedly, the plot of part 2 will be- Akeem learning about a long lost son, and must return to America to meet his unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.
Black-Ish’s Kenya Barris is rewriting the original script by the Coming to America writers.
“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a statement. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”
There has been no confirmation of an official release date, but, production is set to start in 2019.
