Katt Williams is returning to television and he has ABC and Kenya Barris to thank!
The 47-year-old comedian has been in and out of legal trouble for some time, but he it looks like he’s gotten things together because he’s joining the cast of Black-ish.
ABC confirmed exclusively to In Touch that Williams will play a new character on the primetime comedy named Perry. Perry is the father of another new character named Kyra (Quvenzhane Wallis). Kyra is moving in with the Johnsons because her mom can’t take care of her, and she’s estranged from her father – but she’s about they’re about to be reunited with an unexpected visit.
“It’s Katt’s big chance, maybe his last chance at a real comeback,” a source told In Touch.
An insider at ABC says, “[Katt’s] sober, he’s on his best behavior and the cast loves him.”
The insider continued, “It’s definitely a comeback for Katt. This is a big deal. He was on Atlanta, but this is a mainstream, family-friendly, network series. If Katt f–ks this up, he’s never getting another shot. Everyone is rooting for him, especially stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson.”
As of now, Williams’ is confirmed to appear in one episode, but if he does it right, ABC could bring him back for more sooner than we think.
Congrats, Katt!
