Shaquille O’Neal is speaking out in the midst of the multiple protests against police brutality following the death of George Floyd about what he has instructed his son to do if a potential interaction with the police may occur.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the NBA Hall of Famer explained, “I have to talk with them all the time. I told them, ‘First of all, you have to try to diffuse the situation or show respect. If you have to understand that these people are also out here to do all their jobs,” he continued. “So you try to diffuse the situation. If it happens to get rough, don’t say anything, don’t do anything, just comply.”
O’Neal also mentioned that he told his sons to call him and if things get out of hand then he will handle it. “I will be the one to come around and act crazy. I don’t want you to act crazy while you’re out there by yourself. So I just try to tell them, just comply, just listen, but a lot of times that doesn’t work either.”
O’Neal also commented on the death of George Floyd calling his death wrong and uncalled for.
