1956 Audio Of Rosa Parks In Her Own Words Describing What Happened That Evening On The Bus

In honor of Black History Month, today we celebrate “the mother of the Civil Rights Movement,“ Rosa Parks.

On the 1st of December in 1955, Parks’ decision to not give up her rightful seat on a public bus, in Montgomery Alabama, set off a chain of events that was the catalyst in the fight for the civil rights, of African Americans.

Mrs. Parks sparked the Montgomery bus boycott in 1956 that brought King his first national prominence in the civil rights movement.

Parks was a role model for courage in the face of injustice. She’s prepared to sacrifice her security and even her life, to fight for her basic human rights.
