Former President, Barack Obama shares his reaction to Derek Chauvin being found guilty for the death of George Floyd.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account, Obama wrote, “Today the jury did the right thing. But true justice requires more. Michelle and I send our prayers to the Floyd family, and we stand with all those who committed to guaranteeing every American the full measure of justice that George and so many others have been denied.”

Derek Chauvin was convicted on all three charges in the death of George Floyd. The charges were second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.
Chauvin’s sentencing will be held in eight weeks and each count carries a different maximum sentence. The second-degree unintentional murder charge is a maximum of 40 years, the third-degree murder charge is a maximum of 25 years, and the second-degree manslaughter charge is a maximum of 10 years.
