One of America’s favorite weather men has made his return back on our tv screens. After several health issues, Al Roker has rejoined his cast mates once again on the Today Show.
Roker’s co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie, happily announced Roker’s return on Tuesday, less than a month after his latest knee surgery. “You’ve got a brand knew knee! Does it still have that new knee smell?” she joked with him on the show.
Roker has been gone from the show for the majority of May, with his last broadcast being May 8th. A day after his surgery on May 10th, he posted a video of himself in recovery at an NYC physical rehabilitation center.
This month’s surgery is the latest in a string of recent health concerns for the TV personality. As WBLS has reported previously, Roker had health complications around the holiday season. He suffered from a blood clot that transferred from his leg to his lungs. He underwent a nearly seven-hour emergency surgery to treat two bleeding ulcers. Doctors had to resection his colon, remove his gallbladder, and fix a tear in his duodenum, the first part of the small intestine that connects to the stomach.
