Celebrating the Legacy of Alicia Keys
Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, expressed admiration for Keys’ vast contributions. “From her timeless music to her unwavering dedication to uplifting others, Alicia has made an indelible impact on the world,” he said. “Alicia embodies everything the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award represents. Her artistry knows no bounds, her advocacy inspires meaningful change, and her influence has profoundly shaped culture.”
Keys, a 16-time Grammy winner, has continually pushed boundaries in her illustrious career. She first captured global attention in 2002 by winning five Grammys, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for “Fallin’.” Her chart-topping success includes four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and five No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.
In addition to her musical achievements, Keys has expanded her influence into other fields. She is a best-selling author, entrepreneur, and Broadway producer. Her semi-autobiographical musical Hell’s Kitchen opened at New York’s Shubert Theatre in 2024, earning 13 Tony nominations and winning two, including Best Actress and Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
Discussing the play’s inspiration, Keys shared, “The characters are inspired by the city and my experiences. It’s about layered, complex behaviors of humanity that resonate deeply.” The musical will begin a national tour in 2025.
The Recording Academy Honors, now in its fourth year, will once again feature MVD Inc. as producers, with Adam Blackstone returning as music supervisor. Blackstone, a Grammy and Emmy-winning music director, collaborated with Keys on the Hell’s Kitchen cast album.
With her unparalleled artistry and commitment to uplifting others, Alicia Keys’ recognition with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award underscores her enduring legacy and transformative influence.
