Fans of André 3000 have something to look forward to in 2025. The OutKast legend recently confirmed he has new music on the horizon. Speaking during an interview at Tyler, The Creator’s 2024 Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, André shared his plans for the coming year, hinting at fresh creative directions.
“New music, for sure,” André said when asked about his vision board for 2025. He elaborated, “New ways to distribute and express. I don’t wanna pinpoint what it is, but I just wanna express more. Put it like that.”
André 3000 Building on Creative Momentum
André’s last release, New Blue Sun, made waves in 2023 as an entirely instrumental album centered around the flute. The project was a bold departure from his hip-hop roots, earning a 2025 Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Reflecting on the nomination, André told Wayno, “I’m just happy to get paid attention to. The awards are nice because more people get to listen and pay attention to what you’re doing.”
Despite the acclaim, André made it clear that his next project may not follow traditional expectations. “At this point, I’m just trying to keep the momentum,” he told journalist Touré during a November 10 podcast interview. “There’s such a thing as creative momentum. The next stuff is very interesting, too. We’re almost a third—or halfway—into it. … I don’t know when it will be ready. Who knows.”
No Pressure for a Rap Album
Though fans long for a rap album, André has no plans to meet those expectations anytime soon. “Nah, I don’t have a rap album, none of that kinda sh*t, so I’m not stressed about it,” he said. He also revealed that *New Blue Sun* didn’t fulfill his solo contract with Epic Records because it wasn’t classified as a rap album.
As André continues to redefine his creative journey, listeners eagerly await what’s next. With his innovative spirit and commitment to authenticity, 2025 promises to deliver something unique from the music icon.
