Singer-songwriter, Angie Stone is detailing her recent health struggles and is calling out her previous label for unpaid royalties.

During an interview with Halftime Chat, Stone revealed that she was rushed to the ICU for a blood infection two days before her scheduled performance. “Come to find out I had what was a bacterial blood infection that I had gotten when when they stuck me with the needle. It went into my bloodstream and caused a staff infection of the blood.”

She added that she passed out in the restroom as her oxygen decreased, ultimately”rendering her unconscious”. “I was screaming for Jesus. All of a sudden I began to praise God and call on his name because I knew biblically that if I was transitioning, I needed to be calling on Jesus.”

The infection eventually cleared up after two weeks.

Stone shared the story in hopes to inspire others admitting that sometimes you’ll be forced to stand still in life. She credits divine intervention for allowing her to recalibrate.

Following her health scare, Stone shared that she found out her previous label, Universal Music Group, allegedly has not paid her for royalties.

“We begin to research things to check for my royalties and my statements and things of that nature only to find out that they have all pretty much been stolen.”

No further details were explained.

Stone’s journey through these difficulties reflects broader industry challenges that require systematic change. As she works toward recovery and resolution, her experience adds momentum to ongoing efforts for greater transparency and fairness in the music business.
