The sad news continues. After we reported that Black Ballerina Michaela DePrince passed away at the age of 29, we learned that her adoptive mother, Elaine DePrince has also passed away.
Today.com reports that Elaine DePrince passed away from an unrelated illness. She passed away on Sept.11 during a routine procedure while preparing for surgery. Michaela DePrince passed away on Sept.10. Her death was announced on Instagram and no cause of death ahs been determined.
“The last few days have been even more difficult than most people realize because the family has also been dealing with the death of Michaela’s adoptive mother Elaine DePrince,” Jess Volinski, the family’s spokesperson wrote in a statement.
She went on to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support for Michaela before going into detail about Elaine’s passing. “Her mother Elaine died during a routine procedure in preparation for surgery on September 11th. Michaela died before Elaine and Elaine did not know of Michaela’s passing at the time of her procedure,” the statement said.
It continued, “As unbelievable as it may seem, the two deaths were completely unrelated. The only way we can make sense of the senseless is that Elaine, who had already lost three children many years ago, was by the grace of God spared the pain of experiencing the loss of a fourth child.”
The family has asked for their privacy during this difficult time.
