Bishop T.D. Jakes finally opens up about his health scare in 2024.

If you recall, on Nov. 24, 2024 Bishop Jakes suffered a health scare while giving a sermon at his church, The Potter’s House. During the time of the scare not much information was released, however, Bishop Jakes speaks on the scary event.

During an interview with The TODAY Show, he shared, “I didn’t really realize what was happening to me onstage until I got to the hospital in an ambulance and fussing that it happened onstage, by the way, because I didn’t want it to happen, an the doctor leaned over my ear and said, ‘You had a massive heart attack.’”

He went on to say that he didn’t know that he was having a heart attack because he didn’t experience any of the symptoms. “The doctor said five minutes later, I’d have been dead on arrival,” he said. “The right side of my heart had completely stopped getting blood at all.”

He also shared that it’s hard for him to watch videos of that incident but said “it’s a privilege to stand on the other side, to get a little glimpse of what might be like.”

Bishop T.D. Jakes returned to the church on Dec. 31, 2024 to deliver his first sermon since being taken to the hospital. During the service, he thanked his congregations for their prayers because it kept him alive.

“They almost lost me twice, but every time my numbers dropped, your prayers prevailed, and I’m standing here today in the glory of God.”
