Bishop TD Jakes suffered a medical emergency while delivering his Sunday sermon on Nov 24.
“Oh Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace,” the 67-year-old pastor said moments before he dropped his microphone and fell silent.
A voice could be heard over the speakers asking the crowd to pray as Jakes received assistance. The livestream seemingly ended moments later.
Soon after the incident occurred, Jakes’ team took to X to share an update on the pastor’s condition.
“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” a statement read.
“The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
One user on X said, “He is showing signs of extreme stress and high blood pressure.” “That is a stroke or paralysis attacking him; if he had fallen from that chair, he would have suffered a severe stroke.”
Another person commented, “Man had a stroke.”
Jakes, 67, founded The Potter’s House Church in 1996. The non-denominational church currently has more than 30,000 members, according to the church’s website. The church functions as a non-profit organisation with its main campus in Dallas. It is also ranked among the most influential churches in the United States.
