The legendary R&B group Boyz II Men is set to deliver a memorable performance of the national anthem at the highly anticipated Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Known for their iconic harmonies, the trio will kick off the race on November 23, belting out “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the start of the 3.8-mile track, right on the Las Vegas Strip.
Boyz II Men has a long-standing connection to Las Vegas, having held multiple residencies at popular Strip hotels over the years. But this performance will be extra special, as the group will perform on the actual Strip, making the event even more thrilling for fans and spectators alike.
“I’m not sure if F1 has ever experienced hearing a Boyz II Men anthem,” joked Wanya Morris of the group. “But we’ve been told it’s pretty sexy. I don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to feel, but I hear it makes for a good night.”
A Grand Stage for a Grand Performance from Boyz II Men
The group is no stranger to performing at major events, having sung at the 1998 Super Bowl and the 1996 Olympic Closing Ceremonies. According to Morris, this Formula 1 performance ranks right up there with those unforgettable moments. “It’s something to tell our grandchildren,” he added.
In addition to Boyz II Men, the Vegas Grand Prix weekend will be packed with musical entertainment. Ludacris will headline the main stage inside the T-Mobile Zone on race day, while other artists like One Republic, Alesso, and Chromeo are set to perform throughout the weekend.
Alesso, a popular DJ with his own Vegas residencies, called the event “an important cultural moment” and expressed excitement about the unique combination of racing and music. “To have them racing at night under the bright lights of Vegas down the Strip is the kind of spectacle you can only expect to find in Vegas,” he said.
This star-studded event promises to be a weekend full of excitement, uniting fans of both racing and music for an unforgettable experience.
