A 28-year-old Broadway dancer has been reported missing in Columbia, South Carolina.
The family of Zelig Williams, who has appeared in productions of “MJ the Musical” and “Hamilton,” said they last saw him on the morning of Oct. 3 when he left his family’s home.
His family claimed he had not been heard from for a whole day, which was “out of character” for him, per a statement from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department
Williams was spotted driving around the Congaree National Park in central S.C., police say, and his car has since been recovered on the Palmetto Trail, a 500-mile stretch that runs across the state. It wasn’t immediately clear how far from the national park police located Williams’ vehicle.
The Search For Missing Dancer, Zelig Williams
As KBTX reports, family, friends, community members and investigators with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department have searched for Williams at the trail since.
Family members have been using boats to search the Congaree River just 10 minutes away from where Williams’s car was found.
His family said they are devastated by his disappearance. His aunt, Christine Barbara, said it is not like Williams to go days without speaking to family and friends, especially his mother.
“We love you, Z. We hope you come home soon,” his cousin Aaliyah Corbin said.
His family said it is their mission to find him.
“We can’t describe it, its devastation,” said his cousin, Mieoki Corbin-Jacobs. “It’s devastation for someone who is so close to his family to just disappear like that, there’s no way to describe it.”
Jacobs described Williams as a pillar of light, filled with love and a tremendous amount of talent.
Actor Hugh Jackman, who worked with Williams on his “The Man. The Music. The Show.” tour in 2019, posted on his social media account and asked for anyone with information to come forward.
