Busta Rhymes To Honor A Tribe Called Quest At Rock & Roll HOF Induction

Busta Rhymes is set honor the iconic hip hop group, A Tribe Called Quest next month!

The “Touch It” rapper will touch down at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2024 induction ceremony on October 19.  On Wednesday (Sept. 25), the official account for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame uploaded a series of posts to Instagram announcing guest performers including Busta Rhymes, Chuck D, Dr. Dre, and Ella Mai.

“You heard it here first: @bustarhymes is officially performing at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction, music’s highest honor,” the caption read. “Don’t miss him performing LIVE on October 19th to celebrate the one and only hip-hop phenomenon @ATCQ. Yeah, we’re buggin’ out.”

The performance from Rhymes appears to be an intentional pick as the rapper and the group share similar roots. The early-’90s New York rap collective Native Tongues consisted of Tribe, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, Leaders of the New School (Busta’s original rap group), and Busta himself.

Native Tongues never released a joint album but the group’s Afrocentric aesthetic set it apart as a bona fide hip-hop movement during the late 1980s and early ’90s.

As previously reported, some of this years other inductees include Mary J. Blige, Kool & the Gang, Cher and Dionne Warwick.

Mary J Blige is set to be honored by Method Man, Lucky Day and Ella Mai with performances. Additionally, The Roots will hit the stage to with a performance of “iconic songs” dedicated to several of this year’s inductees.

The 39th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Oct. 19 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. It will air live on Disney+ at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT
