Cam Newton opens up about his relationship with comedian girlfriend Jasmin Brown and reveals that marriage isn’t an ultimate goal for him.
While speaking with Dr. Sarah Fontenot, the former NFL player said that he doesn’t believe in traditional values when it comes to marriage. “That’s the way that the propaganda of life that everybody has been putting in our faces say, ‘ok get married, have kids, whatever.’ Not overlooking or not identifying that, that’s still a way for the devil to look or dwell in,” he said.
He also added the future that he sees for them. “When you’re living in your truth, a lot of people want the benefits without also accepting the bulls***. But when you cite the source of who that comment is coming from, you’re not mine either.
As the conversation continued, the Funky Friday podcast host talked about the importance of being real and authentic with your partner and also pushed for men to have hard conversations with their significant other.
He then spoke about Brown’s response to those conversations. “She does an unbelievable job by not judging the branch of the tree but getting to the root of the tree because everything stems from something.”
However, earlier this year, in his now-viral conversation with Cheyenne Bryant, he revealed that he was fearful of divorce and shared that he has a “desire to get married.” Jasmin went on social media to explain how she felt about Newton’s comments.
“Childddddd here come the ‘just checking on you’ DMs. I am fine,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “TRUST ME, I know WHO and WHAT my n***a is. Ain’t no secrets or surprises. He can talk to me about anything.”
She added, “‘Why not just be single if you gonna cheat’ I feel you!!! HOWEVER, men just be wanting to f**k. Once they do that, they’re back to temporarily thinking straight. It’s real ghetto out here! I get it! I don’t blame y’all for wanting to be single! But if you spend enough time talking to men about this topic, you’ll see that it’s not as shocking as it may seem.”
The couple began dating publicly in 2022 and they welcomed their first child together in March, making this child Jasmin’s first and Cam’s eighth. He shares four children with ex-girlfriend, Kia Proctor, and three with model, LaReina Shaw.
