Comedian Chris Tucker recently shared his humorous frustration over being mistaken for fellow comedian Chris Rock after the infamous Will Smith Oscars slap. In a recent standup performance, Tucker revealed that many people thought he was the one on the receiving end of the slap seen around the world.

“Let me tell you why I’m pissed off about that slap with Will Smith and Chris Rock,” Tucker said, opening up his routine. “They mixed me up in it. You know? Because we’re Chris’, they thought I got slapped.”

A Global Mix-Up

Tucker explained how the confusion spiraled out of control, with people calling his mother’s phone to check if he was okay. “People were calling my mom’s phone every night asking, ‘Is Chris okay? I heard he got the sh*t slapped out of him,’” Tucker recalled. “Chris is right here rewinding the tape so I can see the slap. Now stop starting rumors.”

The “Rush Hour” star further joked about how widespread the incident became, mentioning that even people in Tokyo, Puerto Rico, and Africa were discussing the slap. “It was everywhere,” Tucker laughed.

How Tucker Would’ve Handled It

Tucker humorously speculated that Rock must have seen the slap coming, saying, “Black people have a sixth sense. If somebody walks up on us unannounced, the first thing we do — we be like, ‘Hey, what’s up? What you want?’”

He added, “Y’all should’ve known that wasn’t me, because that show would’ve been over right then and there. Will Smith would not have been walking off stage fixing his jacket on my a**.”

Tucker even demonstrated how he would have reacted differently if he had been in Rock’s position, suggesting the encounter would have taken a very different turn.

Despite the mix-up, Tucker seemed to be having a great time poking fun at the situation. Fans are thrilled to see him back on stage, bringing his signature humor to audiences once again, even if it’s at the expense of “the other Chris.”
