“Bel Air” star and ICU singer, Coco Jones has officially signed with Warner Music Entertainment.
The news comes only a few days after her hit single ICU hit #1 on of Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
Coco Jones has been trailblazing her own path. The singer started her career as a Disney Channel star, playing in the film Let It Shine. Since then, she has been seen playing Hilary Banks in the revival of the 1990’s sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Peacock’s Bel Air. In March, the streamer revealed that it was renewed for a third season.
In a recent interview with WBLS, Coco Jones shared that her journey to become Hilary Banks almost didn’t exist. “I was very reluctant to audition because I thought a reimagining meant doing everything the same way so I’m like why would I audition if Hilary was light skin?” she explained. “When [the director] calls me, I was like ‘hello?’ and he was like ‘Yeah none of that. I’ve been watching you. I’ve seen you. I know what you bring to the table. You’re a star, do that.”
“For the first time in my entire career from nine years old, trying to fit into boxes. Be me?”
Coco Jones was also nominated for best new artist honors at the NAACP Image Awards and the Soul Train Music Awards. Billboard named her R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month for May 2023.
