All American star, Daniel Ezra, will be transitioning to a recurring role from a series regular.

Ezra plays Spencer James in the CW drama. According to recent announcements, he expressed how difficult it was to make this decision. “After making the difficult decision to leave ‘All American,’ my sole focus became completing the journey of the most life-affirming character I’ve ever played in the manner he deserves.”

He continued, “Thanks to Nkechi and the writers, I got my wish. Season 6 is ‘Spencer’s goodbye.’ I’ll miss him. I’ll miss our cast and crew. I hope it’s been as fun to watch him as it has been to play him.” Ezra was a show regular since the very beginning. He played a high school football star destined for the NFL.

Aside from being a cast regular, he also directed a few episodes including the show’s 100th episode titled “100%.” The news of Ezra’s departure comes after it was announced that the show’s spin-off All-American: Homecoming will be canceled after its third season which will air on July 8th.

The actor is set to make appearances in season 7, but fans can continue to watch him on the series every Monday at 8 pm on The CW.
