A new chapter in the legacy of DMX is set to unfold with the announcement of Let Us Pray: Chapter X, a posthumous album highlighting the late rapper’s spiritual journey. Slated for release on December 13 through Def Jam/UMe, this eight-track album blends DMX’s well-known spoken prayers with original music composed by Grammy-winning gospel producer Warryn Campbell. The album promises to showcase DMX’s complex layers as both a formidable MC and a deeply reflective soul.

“Working on Let Us Pray: Chapter X has been one of the most fulfilling experiences for me as a creative,” Campbell shared in a press statement. “When you hear the voice of DMX, it inspires instant creativity, and what better way to showcase who X really was than through prayer.” Campbell, known for his work with artists like Kanye West and Alicia Keys, crafted fresh music to enhance DMX’s spoken messages, capturing what many have called the “soul” of the rapper.

DMX Spiritual Themes and Collaborations

Let Us Pray: Chapter X taps into DMX’s deeply religious side, an aspect that fans heard glimpses of throughout his career. “Ultimately, Let Us Pray: Chapter X reflects upon the depth, emotionality, and spirituality of DMX,” a press release stated. This album differs from DMX’s first posthumous release, Exodus (2021), which focused more on his lyrical grit. Instead, Let Us Pray invites listeners to explore the “sacred” side of the rapper, a narrative that evolved alongside his battles with sin and redemption.

The album is rounded out by a range of features, including iconic names like MC Lyte, Killer Mike, Snoop Dogg, and gospel duo Mary Mary. Campbell noted, “It was an honor and privilege to be part of this amazing work,” speaking for the artists involved. The gospel-rap fusion speaks to DMX’s continued impact across music genres, bridging hip-hop and spirituality.

This collection marks a fresh tribute to DMX, whose family once described him as “a warrior who fought till the very end.” With this release, DMX’s legacy lives on in a new form, inviting fans into the heart of his spiritual journey.
