An Emotional Homecoming for Dwight Howard

Howard, who played for the Magic from 2004 to 2012, was visibly moved during the induction. Addressing the audience, he expressed deep gratitude: “This is my home. It will always be my home, and you guys will forever be my family.” Reflecting on his journey, Howard shared, “I am overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion, reflecting on my journey with the Orlando Magic.”

During his tenure with Orlando, Howard led the team to the 2009 NBA Finals and earned three consecutive Defensive Player of the Year awards from 2009 to 2011. He remains the franchise’s all-time regular-season leader in points (11,435), rebounds (8,072), blocks (1,344), free throws made (3,366), and minutes played (22,471).

Howard joins other Magic legends in the Hall of Fame, including Shaquille O’Neal, Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway, and Tracy McGrady. The induction ceremony was attended by Howard’s parents and featured a tribute video highlighting his contributions to the team.

In a heartfelt message to current Magic star Paolo Banchero, Howard advised, “Paolo, don’t leave them, man.”

The evening concluded with the Magic securing a 118-106 victory over the Lakers, ending a six-game home losing streak.
