Dwight Howard got a major win in court in his sexual assault case.

The former NBA player had the case against him dismissed. In July 2023, a man named Stephen Harper, filed a lawsuit against Howard, suing him for sexual assault and battery. However, on Monday, Aug 19, Harper dropped his case against Howard.

The case was dismissed with prejudice, so he can’t file the lawsuit again in the future. Justin Bailey, Howard’s lawyer stated that the victim was not paid any money to drop the case. Back in October, we reported that Howard confessed to having a consensual sexual relationship with a man but denied any sexual assault.

The incident took place in July 2021 with Harper. It was revealed that the two men began talking to each other via Instagram messages a few months prior. Howard would later speak on the relationship between them and called it “nothing more than a classic case of unrequited love,” that came when the basketball player decided to end things.

His attorney wrote, “While Howard remained cordial and responded to Mr. Harper’s test messages and calls sporadically at first, Mr. Harper continued to press for a relationship and Mr. Howard has no interest in such a relationship.”

In Howard’s lawsuit, he also claimed that Howard vowed to take things to social media and expose their one-night stand. “When these threats and several demand for money went unfulfilled, Mr. Harper filed the instant lawsuit as revenge and in an attempt to tarnish Mr. Howard’s reputation.”

Dwight Howard said that he had text conversations revealing that their sexual activity was consensual and Harper said that he had enjoyed their night together after being together.
