Martin Lawrence revealed on the Big Boy’s Neighborhood podcast that he’s responsible for paying for his daughter Jasmin’s wedding to Eddie Murphy’s eldest son, Eric,
As we previously reported, Jasmin Lawrence, and Eddie’s son, Eric Murphy, are engaged after more than three years of dating
“Eddie says I gotta pay for it,” the actor shared on Wednesday’s episode. “He said he paid for his last daughter’s wedding [and] for the last six weddings. He says it’s my turn now … I don’t mind, I don’t mind.”
“It’s a blessing and they [are] two beautiful young people,” Lawrence said about his daughter and future son-in-law.
Lawrence’s eldest daughter, Jasmin, came from his first marriage to Patricia Southall, former Miss Virginia USA. He shares daughters Iyanna and Amara with his second wife, Shamicka Gibbs, a TV personality and entrepreneur whom he married in 2010.
Eddie has 10 children — six daughters and four sons, and Eric is his oldest with ex-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. He and his wife, Paige Butcher, share daughter Izzy Oona, 8, and son Max Charles, 6. He is also father to eight other children, including five with his ex-wife, Nicole Murphy — son Myles, 32, and daughters Bria, 35, Shayne, 30, Zola, 24, and Bella, 22. Murphy also has a daughter named Angel, 17, with ex-girlfriend Mel B.
He also shared that the newly engaged couple do not have a date for their wedding yet.
Eddie’s son popped the question to Martin’s daughter on Nov. 27 in a room filled with candles and roses.
