Ice Cube missed out on a huge payout due to a vaccination requirement for a movie role.
The November 20th episode of Million Dollaz Worth of Game featured Mount Westmore rappers Ice Cube, Too $hort and E-40.
At the 1:11:00 mark, the Straight Outta Compton rapper was asked by one of the hosts, Gillie Da King, about any upcoming film projects.
“I turned down $9 million, I didn’t want to get the jab. F—k that jab. F—k y’all for trying to make me get it. I don’t know how Hollywood feels about me right now,” the rapper said.
E-40 suggested that Ice Cube take the streaming route as a an alternate to working in Hollywood. “But you know what, it ain’t just Hollywood no more, you can go through streaming now”, E-40 proposed. Ice Cube insisted that it doesnt because it’s all controlled by Hollywood.
Last year, news broke that Ice Cube exited from the Sony comedy, Oh Hell No starring Jack Black because of refusing to comply with a vaccination requirement. He clarified on the show that he didn’t actually “turn down” the acting job and the paycheck accompanying it, instead he was forced out of the project when he declined to get vaccinated. “Those motherf-ckers didn’t give it to me because I wouldn’t get the shot. I didn’t turn it down. They just wouldn’t give it to me,” he said. “The Covid shot, the jab…I didn’t need it. I didn’t catch that sh-t at all. Nothing. F-ck ’em. I didn’t need that sh-t.”
