The Isley Brothers showed up and showed out during their NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert.
The concert series was filmed in their home studio in St. Louis, Mo. where lead singer Ronald Isley and his brother Ernie were standing front and center. Their setlist consisted of four songs; “Between the Sheets”, “Foots in the Dark”, “For the Love of You”, and “That Lady.”
Before each song, Ron would either share stories about the song or pay a tribute to those who sampled the group’s work.
In regards to performing “That Lady”, Isley said, “It reminds me of going way back when we had Jimi Hendrix living at the house and playing. We went on to meet a young fellow by the name of Kendrick Lamar who sampled the record and we got a Grammy award for it.”
