Anita Baker fans are concerned about her absence following the cancellation of her Mother’s Day show due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Since the abrupt cancellation at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, fans haven’t seen or heard from the 66-year-old singer.
“Due to late, unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s ‘An Evening with Anita Baker’ event featuring eight-time Grammy Award–winning superstar Anita Baker set to take place at State Farm Arena has been cancelled,” the email sent by the organizers read, The Hindustan Times reports.
The quiet storm singer is usually active on X, reposting and engaging with her followers. The last post from Baker was on Sept 13 where she reposted a fan singing along to “Rhythm of Love.”
One fan wrote on X, “The real fans miss you Ms.Anita, hoping that all is well.”
Another questioned, “Where is Anita Baker?”
Fans are patiently waiting to hear from the “Sweet Love” singer.
The Detroit songstress made headlines last year after dropping R&B hitmaker Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds from her The Songstress Tour after a very public social media dispute between Baker and fans of the 12-time Grammy winner.
“After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, ‘The Songstress Tour,’ alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings,” Baker wrote on X. The post was accompanied by a fresh tour poster, which no longer featured Babyface as a support act.
The spat began after Babyface’s opening set was cut from a concert in New Jersey, reportedly due to technical issues.
