Fantasia Barrino’s oldest child, Zion Quari Barrino, is celebrating a major milestone. On Aug 23, the 23-year-old shared on her Threads account that she’s been sober for 60 days. Zion did not specify what she is sober from.

“I was sick for 3 weeks, but I pressed through, with the grace of God,” she shared.

“I met some amazing people on this new journey and gained a community, love, and unbearable support from my family,” Zion added.

In a follow-up post, the Quari Beauty entrepreneur said that she would share more details about her sobriety feat at a later date. Until then, Zion penned that she was happy to be living a clean and healthy life.

“Still in recovery. It’s really hard. They say 30 days is the hardest. But being 2 months in has been the hardest. But just for today. I’ll go easy on myself day by day,” she added on her Threads account.

Fantasia gave birth to Zion as a teenager. In an 18th birthday post to Zion, the singer recounted the day Zion arrived.

“I remember the day my water broke,” she wrote “It was the scariest feeling in the world. We lived in Winston Salem at the time and Papa Joe had left the house for a second and so I called the ambulance. Zi, I was terrified because I was so young and I wanted to give you the world but I didn’t know how I was going to do it. You came a little early and at the time I was thinking it was because you were either nosey (lol) or you heard all my cry’s and felt you needed to come on out and protect me. Now I see it was the protection part and still to this day you go hard for Mommy!”

Fantasia became a household name in 2004 when she won American Idol at just 19 years old. At the time, she was an aspiring singer who had dropped out of high school and was hoping the decision to follow her dreams would provide a better life for herself and Zion.
