In a show of unwavering support, Flavor Flav has presented gymnast Jordan Chiles with a custom-made bronze clock necklace after she was controversially stripped of her Olympic bronze medal. The rapper, known for his iconic clocks and his role in Public Enemy, unveiled the necklace on social media, ensuring that Chiles wasn’t left empty-handed after her tumultuous experience at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Chiles, who originally secured third place in the gymnastics floor exercise final, saw her medal revoked after a dispute over scoring. Despite an appeal from USA Gymnastics, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that her coach’s appeal was submitted too late. The ruling left Chiles without her medal, even though there was new evidence suggesting her score should have stood.
Flavor Flav, who has been a vocal supporter of Team USA, especially its female athletes, stepped in to lift Chiles’ spirits. He shared a video of the necklace on X (formerly Twitter), showing off the bronze rhinestones inside and outside the clock, with hands set at 12:00. “USA gonna Fight the Powers that be,” Flav wrote, referencing Public Enemy’s classic hit “Fight the Power.” He added, “In the meantime between time, Imma always a man of my word.”
The gesture did not go unnoticed by Chiles’ family. Her mother, Gina Chiles, responded on X, expressing her gratitude: “Thank you. Means the world. She’s not on socials right now as you can imagine. I’ll share it with her.”
Chiles, who has been absent from social media since the CAS ruling, has yet to comment publicly on the situation.
