Halle Berry recently revealed an unforgettable story involving late music icon Prince, sharing how he once asked her out in a unique way. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on September 23, the actress recounted her unexpected interaction with the “Purple Rain” singer.
The moment came after host Jimmy Kimmel asked Berry, “Is it true that Michael Jackson once asked Babyface to ask you out?” Berry laughed before responding, “I don’t know. But I do know that Prince asked me out.”
Berry, 58, explained that the interaction took place at one of Prince’s concerts at the Key Club in Los Angeles. She said Prince made the request through a simple, childlike note. “He had somebody come out with a piece of paper,” Berry recalled. “And you know like kids do, you say, ‘Do you like me? Yes or no.’ I went, yes! I mean, I’m at his concert, right? Yes!”

Berry continued with more details of the encounter. After checking the “yes” box, the next message came back: “Would you go out with me?” This time, however, Berry didn’t respond. “I didn’t send the paper back,” she admitted. “I kept the paper.”
Though Berry never returned the note, it’s clear she still holds fond memories of the experience. Prince, who passed away in 2016 at age 57, left a lasting impact on the actress. In a 2017 interview, Berry shared how much his music influenced her during her teenage years. “That man, his music changed my childhood,” she said.
In addition to the concert story, Berry reminisced about Prince presenting her with an award at the 2011 NAACP Image Awards. Hugging the artist on stage, she said, “I’ve only loved him my whole life.” Though the two never went on that date, their connection left an impression.
