Music mogul Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., known as Irv Gotti, passed away on February 5, 2025, at 54, following a massive stroke. His family has announced that the funeral service will be held on February 18 at Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Jamaica, Queens. This venue can accommodate up to 2,500 attendees, reflecting Gotti’s significant impact on the music industry.

Irv Gotti co-founded Murder Inc. Records and was instrumental in launching the careers of artists like Ja Rule, Ashanti, Jay-Z, and DMX. His influence on hip-hop and R&B is profound and enduring. Gotti is survived by his children Angie, Sonny, and Jonathan Wilson; his brother and Murder Inc. co-founder Chris Gotti; his mother, Nee Nee Lorenzo; and sisters Tina and Angie. In recent years, Gotti had been open about his battle with diabetes and related health issues. He suffered a minor stroke in early 2024, which led him to adopt a more health-conscious lifestyle. Despite these efforts, he experienced another stroke in February 2025, which proved fatal.
