Issa Rae confirms that there will not be a reboot of the hit show “Insecure.”

While on the podcast, “7PM in Brooklyn,” she said that she has no intention of bringing the show back or revisiting the lives of the characters. “No, because it’s so personal to me,” she explained as she compared it to Larry David’s work on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Seinfeld”

“Nobody else can do ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ ’cause that’s his s*** and his gripes. So, I would almost feel like, ‘The f***?’ It would feel like the AI voice of Beyoncé- no, that’s my s***, and those were my experiences.”

Issa Rae added, “If they wanted to create something new, then sure, but no, I have no desire for an Insecure reboot.” The HBO hit show, ran from 2016 to 2021 and it was revered for its true depiction of Black millennial life. The show gained major success and was nominated for multiple Emmys and secured Rae a Peabody Trailblazer Award.
